Update 18th September 2023
The construction of the office and welfare buildings is now well underway with the ground works for the two buildings proceeding.
Update 8th February 2023
Having lain “dormant” since 2020 we have been told by the Council that this project is to recommence with some minor work starting on site in the next couple of weeks or so, and with the main contractor due on site in May. The main work will start with the construction of the office and welfare buildings on the green space to the west of the existing depot. These buildings are expected to be completed by the end of the next financial year, when work will move on to demolishing and rebuilding the existing facilities.
Summary
In 2019 the Council raised a planning application (ref 193206) to completely demolish all existing structures on Toutley Depot and replace them with the phased construction of new works and administration buildings, storage, parking, drainage and associated works including landscaping and fencing. The administration buildings were planned to be constructed on the green space to the west of the existing depot. Although this application was approved in February 2020 no work has started to date, apart from the felling of some trees that were where the administration buildings were planned to go.
